In the United States and Canada, we have predominatly two versions of sign language - American Sign Language (ASL) or Signing Exact English. ASL is another language with its own grammar and vocabulary. Signing Exact English is just what it sounds like: you are signing in the exact grammar of the English language.
Which one should you learn? Most experts suggest that you learn ASL. It is more widely used and once learned you can easily understand Signing Exact English.
